Job Type: Full Time

Job Location: Houston

Hourly Rate: Starting at $27.31 per hour (based on experience).

General Information

The purpose of this job description is to explain the responsibilities and requirements associated with the position. RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have the following general/minimum responsibilities:

  • Run pneumatic tubing.
  • Complete the layout of tubing on skids.
  • Run tubing to the end devices.
  • Bend tubing ¼ - 1 inch thick.
  • Read General Adjustment and P&ID drawings.
  • Fabricate bracket braces and instrument racks as needed.
  • Reading blueprints.
  • Familiar with different types of tubing.
  • Knowledge of end devices.
  • Understanding of system flow.
  • Performs required testing of tubing.
  • Bending stainless steel tubing.
  • Must be able to fabricate and install rigid & aluminum E.M.T,MC-HL and conduit.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and read and interpret the National Electric Code requirements.
  • Is responsible for making final electrical connections after installation of conduit.
  • Is responsible for reporting any problems arising during the test cycle on units.
  • Must be able to assist with troubleshooting issues.
  • Test control panels and make connections which ensure the function of the panel yields accurate results.
  • Certify units, final inspection and test documents.
  • Make changes to panel selection, wiring, etc.
  • Must be able to use bender.
  • Must be able to wire and cable installation by hand, by machine and in cable trays.
  • Testing of the instruments (Point to Point).
  • Ability to test instruments using a multimeter.
  • Ability to open and close electronic valves using HART.
  • Ability to test run compressor packages using PLC.
  • Ability to program transmitters using HART Communicator.
  • Familiar with the different types of PLC transmissions ex (fieldbus, HART, Modbus).
  • Understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Managing workforce.
  • Moderate communication with customers.
  • Inspecting all work performed by crew members and ensuring work is executed per drawings.
  • Managing quality of craftsmanship from crew members.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

The following education, experience and knowledge are preferred for this position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred and/or training.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
  • Five or more years related experience.
  • PLC programming experience a plus.
  • Vocational or technical education a plus.
  • CompEx certificate is a plus (EX01, EX02, EX03, EX04).

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Spends 100% of time in the shop.
  • Exposure to possible shop hazards including but not limited to welding fumes, welding arc flash, skin irritation, high noise level, debris from welding, grinding and possible exposure to hazards that would be considered typical in a fabrication industry.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs. Standing 80% of the time, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and heavy lifting, pushing and pulling while handling material not exceeding forty-five pounds.

Work Schedule

Spitzer currently runs two shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime on weekend work as needed. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
