Family Nurse Practitioner – Urology experience

Advanced Patient Care

• Perform comprehensive evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic test interpretation.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of urologic conditions such as UTIs, overactive bladder, kidney stones, and urinary retention.
• Provide pre- and post-operative management to ensure seamless patient care.

Urology Procedures & Diagnostics

• Perform advanced urology procedures, including:
  • Urodynamic testing and bladder function assessments.
  • Catheter management, including suprapubic catheter care.
  • Intravesical instillations for interstitial cystitis or bladder cancer (per state scope of practice).
  • Bladder ultrasound imaging and related diagnostics.
• Lead in executing therapeutic and diagnostic interventions critical to urologic care.

Patient Education & Empowerment

• Deliver education on urologic health, prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
• Guide patients in bladder training techniques and recurrence prevention strategies.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with physicians, APPs, nurses, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Actively contribute to team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical innovation projects.

Education & Licensure

• Master’s degree from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program.
• Active, unrestricted FNP certification and Michigan state license.

Experience

• Required: Prior hands-on urology experience, including urodynamics testing.
• Minimum 2 years in a direct urology-focused clinical setting.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (Athena) preferred.
