About This Position

Position Summary

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for managing all project controls functions for large-scale data center design and construction projects, including scheduling, cost control, forecasting, reporting, change management, and risk tracking. This role supports the Project Director and Construction leadership by ensuring accurate project performance tracking and providing actionable insights to maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives.

The Project Controls Manager works closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure integrated project planning and execution while maintaining transparent reporting to company leadership and clients.


Key Responsibilities

Project Controls Management

  • Lead the project controls function for assigned data center construction projects.
  • Manage scheduling, cost control, forecasting, progress measurement, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure project performance is tracked accurately and reported consistently to leadership and clients.
  • Support the Project Director and Construction leadership with data-driven decision making.

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to develop realistic activity sequencing.
  • Identify and monitor the project critical path and key milestones.
  • Track schedule progress and recommend mitigation plans for delays or productivity issues.

Cost Control & Forecasting

  • Manage project cost tracking systems including budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecasts.
  • Prepare and update monthly cost forecasts, and estimate-to-complete projections and cashflows.
  • Identify cost variances and implement corrective actions with project leadership.
  • Support change order evaluation and financial impact assessments.

Progress Measurement & Reporting

  • Establish and manage progress measurement systems aligned with project scope and schedule activities.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports including schedule status, cost performance, and key risks.
  • Develop project dashboards and performance metrics for leadership and client reporting.
  • Ensure project data integrity across project management systems.

Risk Management

  • Support development and maintenance of project risk registers.
  • Identify schedule and cost risks and collaborate with project teams on mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with contingency tracking and scenario analysis.

Change Management

  • Support the management of project changes including scope adjustments, change orders, and contract modifications.
  • Evaluate schedule and cost impacts associated with changes.
  • Ensure approved changes are reflected in project schedules and forecasts.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Interface with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to maintain alignment on project performance.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, schedule reviews, and client reporting sessions.
  • Support project leadership in presenting performance updates to internal leadership and clients.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in project controls, project scheduling, or cost control on large construction or EPC projects.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, semiconductor, industrial, or power generation projects preferred.
  • Experience with fast-paced construction environments and complex MEP systems is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Strong experience with cost control systems and forecasting methodologies.
  • Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with project management systems and reporting dashboards.
