Do you love the water and believe everyone should learn how to be safe and confident in it? Join our team at the Mahaska County YMCA and help make a difference — one swimmer at a time! No prior teaching experience is needed — we’ll train you to become a certified swim instructor.

What You’ll Do:
As a Swim Instructor, you’ll play a key role in teaching children and adults the lifelong skill of swimming and the importance of water safety. Under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, you will:
- Teach YMCA swim lessons following established guidelines and curriculum.
- Create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment for all participants.
- Encourage and support members in reaching their individual goals.
- Build meaningful relationships with swimmers, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and uphold YMCA safety and conduct standards.

What We’re Looking For:
- Age 16 or older.
- Confident and comfortable in and around water.
- Friendly, dependable, and eager to work with children and families.
- Willing to learn swim instruction techniques (training provided).
