Job Description

As a physician-founded and led organization, ensuring everyone has access to quality healthcare is what inspires us. The magic we’ve created lies in Carbon Health’s custom EHR and the collaboration among clinical teams, engineers, and designers who work side-by-side to deliver innovation like our hands free AI charting tool. That’s why we hire people who genuinely care about patients, solving healthcare challenges, and making a positive impact every day. Join us and help change the future of healthcare for the better.

What you'll do

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of full stack engineers building and scaling Carbon Health’s care delivery service.
  • Provide technical leadership across frontend and backend domains while enabling the team to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other Engineering leaders to define technical strategy, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Drive architectural direction and ensure best practices are applied across web, mobile, and backend systems.
  • Own delivery outcomes by balancing scope, timelines, and technical quality.
  • Support system design and implementation decisions in a modern microservices and frontend application environment.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, observability, and automation.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, psychological safety, continuous improvement, and reliable delivery.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and leadership to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful adoption of platform capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience building and scaling full stack applications.
  • 2+ years of experience managing engineers and leading technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern frontend technologies, including JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience using React, React Native, and/or ExtJS.
  • Solid backend knowledge with microservice architectures and cloud-based systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one strongly typed backend language (preferably Kotlin, Scala, or Java).
