Inside Counter Sales & Yard Associate at Southeast LBM Holdco LLC – Linville, North Carolina

The Inside Sales & Yard Associate is responsible for supporting customer sales at the counter while assisting with yard and warehouse operations. This position plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring efficient and safe handling of lumber and building materials. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Sales & Customer Support

Provide excellent customer service to walk-in customers, contractors, and vendors

Assist customers with product selection and recommend appropriate building materials

Create accurate sales tickets and enter orders into the system

Handle phone and email inquiries and follow up on customer needs

Coordinate deliveries and customer pickups

Yard & Operations Support

Load and unload lumber and building materials for customers and deliveries

Pull and stage orders for pickup or delivery

Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely (training/certification required)

Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and warehouse

Assist with inventory movement, stocking, and cycle counts

Team & General Duties

Work collaboratively with sales and operations teams to ensure efficient service

Stay proactive and take initiative to support daily business needs

Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations

Assist in other areas of the business as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

1–3+ years of experience in sales, retail, warehouse, or related field

Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (50+ lbs; team lift as needed)

Strong customer service and communication skills

Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Reliable, punctual, and dependable

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in lumber, building materials, or construction industry

Forklift experience or willingness to become certified

Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, or distribution environment

Work Environment

Work is performed in a combination of retail showroom, warehouse, and outdoor lumber yard environments. This role requires working in varying weather conditions and active, hands-on participation in daily operations.
