Emergency Department Technician Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Emergency Department Technician provides patient care for all patients throughout the lifespan.

• Performs technical skills under the supervision of the Emergency Department physicians and RNs for all patients throughout the lifespan.
• Assists medical and nursing staff with patient data collections, patient care, clerical duties and documents/communicates appropriately.
• Assists with facilitating interdepartmental and inter-hospital patient transfers as well as patient transfers between the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers and the Emergency Department.

Emergency Department Technician Minimum Requirements:

• High School plus specialized training (6 mons-2 yrs)
• 1 to 3 years
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Current status as a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), a licensed Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, a Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) or a Medical Assistant (MA) who is a graduate of an associate degree program for Medical Assisting.

Salary Range: $18.00 to $27.50/hr (based on experience)
