Distribution Design Intern at Connexus Energy – Ramsey, Minnesota

Are you studying construction, engineering, surveying or GIS and want to gain practical hands-on experience in a busy Distribution Design department? Connexus Energy has the 2026 summer internship for you. The Distribution Design Intern will assist with a wide range of work assisting designers in the planning, designing and staking of overhead and underground distribution lines along with other exciting work.

Location:

The internship is a temporary position requiring full-time, in-person hours at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd. Ramsey, MN 55303. Based on current requirements, hires must reside or relocate to Minnesota. This temporary position is not eligible for relocation or housing.

Compensation:

Anticipated hiring pay is between $17.00 and $20.00 per hour. The final compensation is based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience and skill level.

In this position you will:

• Assist in the design of Connexus Energy’s distribution system by providing technical support and administrative support to the Design Department.
• Design and coordinate New Services & Member Service Requests to resolve customer issues or requests.
• Identify, design and coordinate hazardous conditions, foreign attachment violations, and corrective action in order to ensure the safety to Connexus employees and the general public.
• Operate computer software applications to aid in preparing Construction Work Orders.
• Prepare design documents that consist of material lists, sketches, work status, mapping, and cost estimates. Maintain job notes and proper job status in the work order management system to allow communication with internal and external customers.
• Assist Distribution Designers in design, measuring routes, flagging routes, and staking of system improvements, road construction, and other types of projects.

Need to have:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Enrolled in and pursuing a 4-year degree in construction, engineering, surveying, GIS or related field

Nice to have:

• Basic knowledge of electricity
• Ability to use design software
• Strong organizational skills
