Visual Merchandise Manager at Mor Furniture For Less Inc – San Diego, California

Mor Furniture is seeking a creative and strategic Visual Merchandiser with a minimum of five years of experience to join our corporate team in San Diego. This role is responsible for designing and executing visually compelling in-store displays that enhance the customer experience and drive sales. In addition to traditional merchandising duties, this position will play a key role in curating and determining our accessory lineup, ensuring our product mix aligns with seasonal trends, customer preferences, and brand identity.

This position is based at our corporate office in San Diego and requires occasional travel to store locations and furniture markets to support visual standards, seasonal resets, and product selection. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable managing people, including overseeing visual merchandising staff or contractors, providing direction, and ensuring consistent execution across locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies that reflect the Mor Furniture brand and seasonal campaigns.
• Design floor plans and display concepts that optimize product visibility and customer flow.
• Select and manage the accessory assortment, including decorative items, artwork, lighting, and textiles.
• Travel to furniture markets to assist in assembling the product assortment, with a strong emphasis on accessories and rugs.
• Lead and mentor visual merchandising team members, providing guidance, feedback, and support.
• Collaborate with buying, marketing, and store teams to align visual presentation with promotional goals and inventory levels.
• Monitor sales performance of accessories and adjust selections based on data and customer feedback.
• Maintain visual standards across all store locations through regular audits and updates.
• Stay current on industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging design concepts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in visual merchandising, preferably in furniture, home décor, or lifestyle retail.
• Experience managing or leading a team is strongly preferred.
• Strong eye for design, color, and spatial arrangement.
• Experience in product curation or buying is a plus.
• Proficiency in visual design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and/or planogram software.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise and display materials.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, including to furniture markets.

Preferred Skills

• Degree or certification in Visual Merchandising, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Experience working in a multi-location retail environment.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate product performance and customer trends.
