We’re currently seeking a Budget Analyst I/II to join our Finance Department's Budget Team. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting citywide budgeting efforts, working on everything from financial analysis and budget development to policy review and contract compliance. You’ll collaborate with departments across the City and help ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
As a Budget Analyst, you will monitor and analyze departmental budgets, assist in the development and coordination of the City’s annual budget, and contribute to the preparation of the budget book and other financial documentation. You will also support the drafting and review of contracts to ensure compliance with purchasing regulations and help shape the City's financial policies. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that directly support the City’s strategic goals and operational effectiveness.
You’ll be part of a small, highly collaborative team that includes a Budget Officer and a Senior Budget Analyst. We are looking for someone who can work independently, build strong working relationships with departmental partners, and communicate complex budget information in a clear and relatable way, whether speaking to a large group or in one-on-one settings.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of translating financial data into meaningful insights for a wide range of audiences, including executives, staff and community stakeholders.

This recruitment and examination is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy and may be used to fill the Management Analyst I/II (Information Technology) vacancy and other future full-time vacancies as they occur during the active status of the employment list. The active status of this employment list will be at least 6 months unless abolished sooner or extended beyond that date in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.

Candidates who have participated in a testing process for a recruitment are not eligible to re-take the same test within six (6) months.

These testing steps may be conducted on a pass/fail basis, and/or percentage-based scoring methodology.
- Based on the City Charter, the final phase of the selection process is the Probationary Period, which in most cases is six (6) months but may be twelve (12) months depending on the classification.
- When three or fewer candidates are available, the testing procedures outlined in the Job Announcement may be waived by the Human Resources Department.
