About This Position

Customer Service and Supply Chain Specialist

Position Summary:
The Customer Service and Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating customer orders and ensuring the efficient operation of supply chain activities for Gowan's operations. The position serves as a key point of contact for external customers and internal teams, ensuring the smooth execution of order processing, product availability, inventory management, and logistics. This role will collaborate closely with the Sales Team, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Order Management:
    • Manage the full cycle of customer orders, from receipt to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
    • Process orders in the ERP system (JD Edwards or similar) and communicate any discrepancies or issues with the relevant internal teams.
    • Provide order updates to customers and internal teams regarding product availability, delivery status, and any delays.
  • Customer Service:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for Canadian customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to orders, products, and logistics.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Supply Chain Coordination:
    • Work with the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure the timely and accurate dispatch of products to customers.
    • Manage inventory levels and provide recommendations for stock replenishment based on forecasted demand.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, transport companies, and customs brokers to ensure the smooth import/export of goods.
  • Logistics Support:
    • Collaborate with freight forwarders and transportation providers to manage shipping logistics, including selecting carriers, negotiating rates, and tracking shipments.
    • Assist in optimizing logistics costs while maintaining high service levels for customers.
  • Data Entry and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, order processing, and supply chain activities.
    • Generate reports on sales, inventory levels, and logistics performance to provide insights to the management team.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) are a plus.

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in customer service and supply chain roles, preferably in the agricultural or chemicals industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes, including import/export regulations for Canada.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French language skills are a plus.
    • Ability to interact with customers, internal teams, and external service providers effectively.
  • Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle customer issues and supply chain challenges.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Job Expectations / Working Conditions:

  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, customer visits, or logistics coordination.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and spend extended periods using a computer.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced workload and handle high-pressure situations during peak seasons.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work at a desk for extended periods.
  • Occasional light lifting of office materials or product samples.
