About This Position

At Southall, we are looking for passionate team members to help us as we continue our journey to inspire culinary consciousness – showcasing fresh, seasonal fare that highlights the path from seed to plate. Our dining experiences take place just steps from where our ingredients are grown and raised, offering guests an unparalleled connection between land, kitchen, and table.

Our two restaurants each evoke a feeling of their own:

  • Sojourner, the center of life in the Inn, where all are welcome to gather. With an elegant yet casual atmosphere, Sojourner is home to all-day dining and in-room service.

  • January, open exclusively for dinner, where menus evolve with the seasons and harvest. Here, guests enjoy refined meals prepared in our state-of-the-art open kitchen.

  • We also offer Poolside dining, where relaxed hospitality meets refreshing seasonal fare.

We are currently seeking Food & Beverage and Culinary Team Members across our outlets — from welcoming and serving guests to preparing dishes that highlight the farm’s bounty. Whether front-of-house or back-of-house, you will play a vital role in creating exceptional experiences rooted in hospitality, craftsmanship, and care.

Food & Beverage Responsibilities:

  • Provide immersive, personalized guest experiences by sharing knowledge of Southall’s seed-to-table philosophy.

  • Welcome, guide, and seat guests while managing dining flow with warmth and attentiveness.

  • Take and communicate guest orders accurately, including special requests, using the point-of-sale system.

  • Prepare beverages including espresso drinks, craft cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic offerings with precision.

  • Deliver food and beverages promptly, ensuring presentation and quality standards are upheld.

  • Anticipate guest needs, read each table, and tailor service to create memorable, customized experiences.

  • Assist with setup, breakdown, restocking, and cleanliness of dining, bar, and café spaces.

  • Support fellow team members across outlets during high volume or special events.

Culinary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all foods according to standard recipes to ensure consistency for the guest.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of fundamental cooking procedures.

  • Stock and set up kitchen stations according to specifications.

  • Monitor proper storage, handling, and portion control to maintain quality and safety.

  • Assist in food preparation during off-peak periods.

  • Ensure all equipment and working areas remain clean, organized, and in proper working condition.

  • Receive, handle, and respect the products coming through our doors, showing equal respect to co-workers.

  • Exhibit a positive, professional attitude, even during challenging times.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous restaurant, hospitality, or culinary experience required (3+ years in kitchens preferred).

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of (or passion to learn) food, wine, spirits, and coffee.

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English (conversational Spanish preferred for kitchen roles).

  • Excellent time management and active listening skills.

  • Genuine passion for hospitality and food craftsmanship.

Education and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 3–5 years’ experience in fine dining restaurants preferred (culinary).

  • TABC Certification required for bartenders/servers.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Available to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods; repetitive motion of hands/wrists required for culinary roles.

  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, in varying weather conditions.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.; we are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.
