Senior Cost Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Cost Manager based in India.

This role sits within a high-performing cost management team supporting complex, large-scale construction and real estate projects. You will be responsible for delivering accurate cost planning, feasibility studies, and commercial advice across multiple project stages, from concept through completion. The position requires close collaboration with clients, consultants, and internal multidisciplinary teams to ensure financial control and value optimization. You will play a key role in managing risk, improving cost efficiency, and supporting strategic project decisions for occupier and investor clients. The environment is fast-paced and client-focused, offering exposure to diverse UK-based projects and international standards. This role also provides opportunities to contribute to business development activities and support bid proposals. Accountabilities:
  • Prepare feasibility studies, detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for UK-based construction projects across various stages of development.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from design documentation and ensure accuracy across different design phases.
  • Apply strong understanding of construction methodologies to support cost planning and value engineering decisions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and design-related risks across project lifecycles.
  • Collaborate with project teams to raise RFIs and improve cost accuracy and delivery outcomes.
  • Deliver cost management services for occupier and investor clients, ensuring alignment with project objectives and budgets.
  • Work with industry-standard measurement codes such as NRM, SMM7, and CESMM.
  • Interpret client briefs and translate them into structured cost delivery plans and execution strategies.
  • Take ownership of medium to large-scale projects from inception through completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost management within construction or real estate projects.
  • Strong exposure to UK-based projects is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (B.E./B.Tech or equivalent).
  • Experience working with international measurement standards such as NRM, SMM7, and CESMM.
  • Strong technical expertise in cost planning, BOQ preparation, and quantity take-offs.
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings, design documentation, and construction methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, proposals, and client interaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; experience with CostX or similar software is an advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management and team collaboration skills; MRICS qualification is a plus.
