Position Summary
SENS is seeking a self-motivated Validation Test Engineer to join our engineering team. This individual will work with Engineering to verify and validate new products and ensure the highest level of reliability and performance of our products and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop tests and conduct new product validation in Engineering to ensure products meet performance, reliability, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Verify products operate according to specifications under varying workloads through electrical testing, environmental qualification, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Develop test systems and fixturing to support validation tests.
- Support an automated test framework used to verify products.
- Analyze test data to identify patterns, detect anomalies, and provide insights to improve product design.
- Collaborate in planning and prioritization for test plan creation, design, implementation, and execution phases.
- Occasionally support manufacturing readiness team to develop new product test plans and instructions for the Production environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent in a technical field of study.
- 5+ years of experience in product verification, validation, test engineering, or systems test engineering.
- Experience developing and executing verification and validation plans for complex electrical products from concept through production release.
- Strong background in creating and executing test plans, procedures, reports, verification matrices, and validation protocols.
- Experience testing and validating power electronics, battery systems, chargers, DC power systems, embedded controllers, communications equipment, industrial controls, or energy storage systems.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting test data, including identifying trends, anomalies, and performance issues.
- Proven ability to investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, validate corrective actions, and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Experience with software programming and basic ability to read and step through code.
- Experience working and communicating with test equipment such as voltmeters, data acquisition systems, o-scopes, load banks and similar instruments to make manual and automated measurements.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical part drawings.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development teams with electrical, software, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Environmental and reliability testing, including thermal, vibration, shock, HALT/HASS, and qualification testing.
- Communications testing and validation using CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, MQTT, and serial protocols.
- Development or support of automated test systems, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, Python-based automation, and data acquisition systems.
- Experience supporting UL, EMC, safety, environmental, and product certification testing.
- In-depth knowledge of critical power genset backup, charger/battery systems or battery monitoring.
- Advanced software programming knowledge and experience in C#.
Closing Date: July 10th. While we expect to keep the position open through this date, the posting may be extended or closed early based on applicant volume and hiring needs.
Location: This position is on-site in Longmont, CO and is not available for remote work.
Base Compensation: $125,000 - $133,000 is the projected compensation range for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
