Job Description

Role Summary:

The President of Economic Development Services provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and market-facing oversight for inSITE Advisory Group’s economic development service line. This role is responsible for leading client engagement, expanding business opportunities, guiding complex public- and private-sector development initiatives, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across planning, incentive strategy, funding procurement, redevelopment, site selection, and community growth projects. The President serves as a senior advisor to municipalities, corporations, developers, and institutional partners while advancing the firm’s vision, reputation, and long-term growth.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for inSITE Advisory Group’s economic development services, aligning team priorities, client outcomes, and market opportunities with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Leads business development efforts by cultivating relationships with municipal leaders, corporate executives, developers, brokers, site selectors, and strategic partners to expand the firm’s client base and project pipeline.
  • Serves as a senior advisor on complex economic development initiatives, including site selection, incentive strategy, public-private partnerships, downtown revitalization, redevelopment, infrastructure planning, and funding procurement.
  • Directs and oversees client engagements to ensure high-quality execution, strategic alignment, measurable results, and strong client satisfaction across both public- and private-sector projects.
  • Guides the development of tailored strategies for business attraction, retention, expansion, redevelopment, and community growth, informed by market data, financial analysis, and stakeholder input.
  • Represents the firm in high-level meetings, presentations, negotiations, and public forums, effectively communicating project value, funding strategies, policy considerations, and implementation pathways.
  • Builds and mentors a high-performing team by setting expectations, developing talent, encouraging collaboration, and fostering accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies emerging trends, policy developments, and funding opportunities that may impact clients and the firm, translating insights into practical strategies and new service opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of economic development strategy, incentive programs, site selection, redevelopment, public-private partnerships, and local, state, and federal funding mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership ability, including strategic planning, team development, operational oversight, and successful management of complex client portfolios and initiatives.
  • Strong business development, relationship management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to generate opportunities and build trust across public and private sectors.
  • Ability to evaluate market conditions, financial structures, incentive packages, and development opportunities and translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to influence decision-makers, represent the firm publicly, and convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the judgment necessary to lead high-impact projects and advise clients on sensitive or complex matters.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, elected officials, public administrators, community stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to leverage relevant technology tools to support reporting, analysis, communications, and client service.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Finance, Planning, Business, Real Estate, or a closely related field required.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent executive leadership experience in economic development, community development, public policy, or related fields preferred.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, community development, public administration, real estate development, consulting, or a related field, including significant leadership, client advisory, and business development responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications and Professional Affiliations

  • Participation in relevant professional development, leadership training, and economic development associations encouraged; completion of company training and role-specific professional development coursework within required timeframe.

Work Environment

  • May require travel

  • May require non-traditional work hours to meet project demands and attend client meetings
