Career Opportunity: Electronics Test Technician

Reports to: Test Engineering Manager

On-Site Work Requirement: North Logan, UT

About the role:

We are seeking an intermediate-level Electronic Test Technician to join our Test Engineering team in North Logan, Utah. The Test Engineering Technician will assist the Test Engineers in developing production process documentation and creating clear test procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy. They will conduct failure analyses to identify root causes of issues and help troubleshoot real-time operational challenges. Additionally, the technician will optimize workstations to enhance efficiency and safety during testing and production activities.

Work Schedule

  • The schedule is a 4-day/10-hour work week.
  • Shift 1: Monday 5:30 AM - Thursday 4:00 PM
  • Overtime (OT): The goal is to limit OT, but it is a reality in manufacturing.

What a Day Looks Like:

  • Prepare, set up, and execute tests on components and systems as per defined procedures and specifications.
  • Record test data diligently and assist in analyzing results to determine compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Maintain testing equipment and tools in good working condition by performing routine calibrations and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of test setups, procedures, results, and corrective actions taken to address issues.
  • Work closely with engineers and other technicians to communicate test results and suggest improvements based on findings.
  • Participate in the quality assurance process and ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards during testing activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in testing methods and participate in implementing changes.
  • Mentor and train technicians, guiding best practices and test methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, and ITAR standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years plus experience in electronic or product testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Electronics and Programming.
  • Ability to use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, or ICT systems.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in troubleshooting defects in a production environment.
  • Solid attention to detail.
  • Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. We can not sponsor visas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's, Technical Degree, or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and customer-specific testing protocols.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing environments.
  • IPC Certifications: J-STD-001, IPC-A-610

Key Metrics and Focus Areas:

  • First pass yield and defect reporting accuracy.
  • Test time efficiency and troubleshooting resolution time.
  • Quality of test documentation and traceability.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use of test benches and computer-based systems for extended periods.
  • Handle and move test equipment and units weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity for probing, adjustments, and fine component handling.
  • Working in ESD-controlled environments.

Compensation: Compensation is based on work experience in manufacturing, education, and prior work experience in electronics manufacturing.
