As a Senior Scientific Programmer, you will lead the development and improvement of numerical capabilities within a sophisticated simulation platform. You will combine scientific expertise, software engineering skills, and problem-solving ability to create solutions that address complex engineering and environmental challenges.
- Own the design, development, and optimization of numerical algorithms and mathematical solutions supporting the simulation engine.
- Translate theoretical foundations, equations, and computational methods into robust C++ implementations.
- Develop and validate scientific models used for quality assurance, product examples, and customer applications.
- Improve existing modeling capabilities and identify opportunities for new features based on user needs and scientific advancements.
- Participate in technical discussions throughout the development lifecycle, contributing beyond the mathematical components.
- Document numerical methods, algorithms, and implementation approaches to ensure knowledge sharing across teams.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate advanced computational capabilities into the broader platform.
- Provide technical guidance to QA teams and customer support on complex scientific modeling and numerical challenges.
- Explore emerging computational approaches, including AI and machine learning techniques, to enhance simulation capabilities.
- Help modernize existing algorithmic infrastructure and improve development methodologies.
The ideal candidate combines advanced scientific knowledge with strong programming expertise and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. You should have experience applying mathematical and computational methods to practical science or engineering problems.
- Master’s or PhD degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, or a related technical field, with strong academic performance.
- Extensive experience with applied mathematics and numerical methods for solving scientific and engineering problems.
- Strong understanding of computational techniques such as matrix algebra, numerical analysis, and methods for solving differential equations.
- Background in earth sciences, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or related disciplines is highly preferred.
- Significant C++ programming experience, ideally within scientific, engineering, or simulation software environments.
- Proven ability to design and implement practical numerical solutions for complex real-world challenges.
- Experience working with numerical libraries, scientific frameworks, or computational tools is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain mathematical and technical concepts effectively.
- Experience developing Windows desktop applications or working with tools such as MATLAB, R, or Tableau is beneficial.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in scientific computing, machine learning models, LLM-based tools, or AI-assisted development is a plus.
