Job Description

PipeCare Group is looking for an experienced Mechatronics Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and improving intelligent electromechanical systems used in Inline Pipeline Inspection (ILI) tools. By providing technology and service focused solutions to the international arena of the oil and gas industry, the PipeCare Group of companies has been helping the customers ensure the integrity of their pipeline and facility assets for over 20 years.
The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and improving intelligent electromechanical systems used in Inline Pipeline Inspection (ILI) tools. The role combines mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, sensors, automation, and control systems to develop reliable inspection technologies capable of operating in harsh pipeline environments.

Key Responsibilities & Authorities
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, algorithms to create ground breaking technologies and systems in the ILI and NDE fields.
  • Will be responsible for development, debugging and implementation of high-reliability firmware for hard real time embedded systems.
  • Will be responsible for bringing up new boards and products from scratch to production.
  • Will be responsible for technical support and troubleshooting of firmware bugs and issues that may occur after deployment of new products or existing products.
  • Design and develop mechatronic systems for intelligent pipeline inspection tools.
  • Develop mechanical assemblies integrated with electronic components and embedded controllers.
  • Design motion mechanisms, sensor mounting systems, and actuator assemblies.
  • Support new product development from concept through commercialization.
  • Integrate electronic hardware with mechanical systems.
  • Work with embedded controllers, microprocessors, and communication interfaces.
  • Develop electrical schematics and wiring layouts.
  • Interface with firmware engineers during hardware integration.

Skills/Experience:
  • BSc in Mechatronics /Electronics, Computer engineering, Computer Science or relevant field.
  • 3+ years of embedded system development experience.
  • Excellent C/C++ coding skills.
  • Experience in bare-metal embedded system programming as well as in real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS.
  • Experience in embedded system development using ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
  • Ability to develop and implement DSP algorithms targeted for embedded systems.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in electronic circuit design (Digital & Analog). Experience in Altium Designer is a plus.
  • Ability to understand PCB, schematics, and having general hardware knowledge to contribute to debugging and bringing up new boards and products.
  • Ability to use debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers to trace problems that can be in hardware or software.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility: Must be able to walk and climb to perform duties, including maneuvering within a refinery or plant environment and accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  • Communication: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively.
  • Focus and Multitasking: Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
  • Safety Equipment: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection, if/where needed in manufacturing environments.
  • Personal Mobility and Reflexes: Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary.

Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL): Detects and sizes general corrosion and metal loss anomalies, especially circumferentially oriented.

Transverse Field Inspection (TFI): Detects and sizes general corrosion and metal loss anomalies, primarily axially oriented.
