We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our Finance team supporting a growing life sciences manufacturing organization. This role will be responsible for general accounting activities, month-end close, inventory and manufacturing accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls within a regulated production environment.

The ideal candidate possesses a solid accounting foundation, enjoys working with operational data, and understands the complexities of inventory, production costs, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Support balance sheet integrity through timely reconciliation and review.

Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting

  • Perform inventory reconciliations and support cycle count and physical inventory processes.
  • Monitor material usage, production activity, and inventory transactions for accuracy.
  • Assist with standard costing, cost roll-ups, and product cost analysis.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, overhead, scrap, and yield variances.
  • Support monthly inventory valuation and reserve assessments.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and cost visibility.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze operational and financial reports.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through financial and variance analysis.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning activities.
  • Assist management in evaluating manufacturing performance and profitability.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, U.S. GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Support external audits and provide documentation for audit requests.
  • Assist in maintaining accounting procedures related to inventory, production, and financial reporting.
  • Support compliance requirements in a regulated life sciences environment, including proper documentation and record retention.

Process Improvement

  • Participate in ERP and accounting system enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, increase automation, and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and Manufacturing functions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Manufacturing accounting experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, or related industries.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Experience supporting a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • CPA or CPA-track candidate preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting and business intelligence tools.
