Make an Immediate Impact When It Matters Most

Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness is deeply committed to strengthening the well-being of our communities by providing equitable, compassionate, and responsive care. As a Mobile Crisis Responder, you will play a critical role in supporting youth and families during moments of acute mental health crisis—meeting people where they are and helping restore safety, stability, and hope.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for professionals who remain calm under pressure, lead with empathy, and are motivated by meaningful, real-time impact.

Position Summary

The Mobile Crisis Responder provides in-person crisis intervention services to youth under the age of 21 experiencing significant mental health emergencies that may pose a risk to themselves or others. Responders deliver immediate assessment, stabilization, safety planning, and connection to ongoing care to prevent escalation and unnecessary hospitalization.

  • Accept and respond to CARES line referrals on a no-decline basis

  • Arrive in person within 90 minutes of referral receipt

  • Conduct screenings and assessments using the Illinois Medicaid Crisis Assessment Tool (IM-CAT)

  • Provide immediate crisis stabilization, de-escalation, and short-term intervention

  • Develop short-term crisis and safety plans with youth and families

  • Coordinate reunification, family-generated placement, or psychiatric hospitalization when necessary

  • Complete all crisis documentation accurately and in real time

  • Collaborate with Care Coordinators and participate in short-term Child & Family Team (CFT) involvement for Pathways clients

  • Provide follow-up, linkage, and referrals to appropriate community resources

  • Maintain on-call availability during scheduled shifts

  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, trainings, and community outreach efforts

  • Comply with all Illinois mandated reporting laws and agency protocols

Trauma-Informed Care Commitment

All Mobile Crisis Responders practice trauma-informed care grounded in the 5 S’s:

  • Safety – Physical and emotional

  • Self-Regulation – Managing emotions during crisis response

  • Supportiveness – Respectful, compassionate engagement

  • Strengths – Identifying and reinforcing client resilience

  • Self-Care – Addressing secondary trauma and stress
