Job Overview:
We are seeking a Full Time Histology Technician for our laboratory department in our New Brunswick location.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Histology Technician required.
- Must be able to prepare tissue specimens of a quality that can be diagnosed by a pathologist.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, or a student actively working toward a science degree.
- HT or HTL certification highly preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full Time (40 Hours).
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Flexible Day Shift: Requires schedule flexibility with early morning start times varying between 3:30 AM and 8:00 AM.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares tissue specimens to be reviewed by pathologist.
- Embedding, sectioning and routine hematoxylin and eosin staining are performed according to policy and procedure manual.
- Produce quality frozen section suitable for immunofluorescent staining.
- Able to perform immunohistochemical staining techniques.
- Understands the concept of quality control both for positive and negative staining.
- Able to manage the antibody inventory.
- Maintains accuracy of patient identification.
- Correctly assign pathology numbers to patients.
- Processes specimens so block and slide labels are correct.
