In this role, you will be responsible for selling vehicles while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, sales volume, and customer satisfaction. This position reports to the Sales Manager.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous dealership sales experience preferred.
  • Valid California Salesperson License required.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and committed to maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, be able to perform driving-related job duties, and be eligible for coverage under the dealership’s insurance policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening, subject to applicable law.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
  • References may be requested.
Essential Duties
  • Approach, greet, and assist customers who enter the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Ensure the Sales Manager has an opportunity to meet each customer.
  • Assist customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions, listening carefully to their responses, and suggesting alternative vehicles when appropriate.
  • Understand automotive industry terminology and stay current on product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, and related updates.
  • Provide thorough product information and vehicle demonstrations to prospects.
  • Offer test drives to prospects and follow dealership procedures to obtain proper identification before each test drive begins.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize the dealership’s sales control and follow-up system.
  • Know and understand the federal, state, and local laws that govern retail automotive sales.
  • Understand equity, vehicle values, and depreciation, and be able to explain these concepts to customers.
  • Assist with turning closed deals over to the Finance Manager, including ensuring paperwork is complete and accurate, such as insurance information and trade title documentation.
  • Prepare sold vehicles for customer delivery, including cleaning the vehicle, filling the gas tank, and confirming that all features are operational before customer arrival.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers and ensure they understand the vehicle’s operating features, warranty information, and related paperwork.
  • Introduce customers to service department personnel and explain the quality and efficiency of service, repairs, and maintenance available through the dealership.
  • Schedule the customer’s first service appointment.
  • Follow up on post-delivery items, tag/title work, “we-owes,” and special requests to help ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Maintain a prospect development and follow-up system.
  • Attend sales meetings, both remote and in person.
  • Help keep the used-vehicle department neat and clean.
  • Maintain a professional business appearance.
  • Write complete sales orders and process paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.
  • Review and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance with the Sales Manager to better utilize time and plan more effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation: California minimum wage plus monthly commission. Actual earnings may vary based on individual sales performance, commission opportunities, and applicable pay plan terms.
