Position SummaryTampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our Family Medicine care team.
The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan, including preventive care, acute treatment, chronic disease management, patient education, and care coordination. This position works collaboratively with physicians, clinical support staff, and other members of the care team within TFHC’s Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic health conditions
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic testing
- Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate follow-up care
- Provide preventive care, health screenings, and patient education
- Consult with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary care team members
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic health record documentation
- Participate in daily care team huddles and quality-improvement initiatives
- Support efforts to close care gaps and improve patient outcomes
- Mentor or serve as a preceptor to PA, APRN, and nursing students when appropriate
- Protect patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety
- Promote teamwork and positive relationships with patients and the community
- Comply with HIPAA, HRSA, federal, state, accreditation, and TFHC requirements
- Float between TFHC locations when operationally necessary
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current and unencumbered Florida Physician Assistant license
- Current NCCPA certification
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Prescriptive authority in accordance with Florida law
- Minimum of one year of Physician Assistant experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
