Job Summary
The Chemical Operator is responsible for the safe transfer, handling, packaging, and disposal of chemical products within the warehouse facility. This role supports operations by transferring primarily non-hazardous chemicals into containers and drums, flushing lines between product transfers, safely handling materials, and operating forklifts to move materials throughout the facility. Chemical Operator is the entry level into drumming. Clean up from this drumming is a water flush. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safety, compliance, and operational efficiency in a chemical handling environment.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Transfer primarily non-hazardous chemical products into containers, drums, and other packaging in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines.
- Operate and monitor transfer systems including pumps, hoses, and valves during chemical transfers.
- Flush transfer lines and equipment between product runs to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity.
- Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport drums, totes, and pallets within the facility.
- Label containers and ensure proper documentation of chemical transfers and inventory movements.
- Inspect containers, hoses, and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in accordance with warehouse and environmental safety standards.
- Follow all safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory management and material movement as needed.
- Report spills, equipment issues, or safety concerns immediately to management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least one-year previous warehouse, chemical handling, or manufacturing experience
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
- Ability to follow safety procedures and chemical handling protocols
- Basic understanding of material handling and warehouse operations

The employee is working in an industrial warehouse environment around chemicals and equipment and is required to wear PPE including gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
