Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to support the daily operations of the City of Greer’s public waste disposal facility.
This position works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when
to complete tasks.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acts as first point of contact for residents visiting the convenience center.
- Monitors and oversees daily operations of the Convenience Center
- Ensures that waste is being disposed is residential and complies with center’s regulations.
- Prevents commercial waste from being dropped off at the facility.
- Direct residents to the appropriate disposal bins based on waste type.
- Ensures that facilities meet the City of Greer’s beautification standards.
- Monitors bins to ensure proper use and prevent contamination between waste streams.
- Provides customer service to residents of the City of Greer, answers questions and provides information about assigned facilities and parks.
- Routinely inspect recycling center to ensure it is clean and containers are not full.
- Maintain recycling center and surrounding area in a clean, orderly manner, pick up garbage and debris, landscape, etc.
- Maintain records of daily activities.
- Assess and develop ways to improve site operations.
- Reports needs and issues immediately to the appropriate department.
- Clean and maintain assigned tools.
- Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains backhoes, tractors, compactors, balers, pallet jacks, and other power or motorized equipment.
- Performs related work as required.
- Continually stays up to date on all policy, procedure, and/or process changes.
- Completes all work accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Keeps work area clean and safe.
- Maintains any assigned equipment in safe and good operating condition.
- Reports to Supervisor any suggested improvements or areas of concern.
- Ensures professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions while performing job representing the City of Greer.
- Exhibits strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, customers, and community.
- Adheres to Employee Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintains regular and sustained attendance.
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Hours: 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, M-F; up to 28 hours a week.
Salary: Minimum $19.69 hourly; dependent on experience

Requirements:EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Experience in working in a public-facing or facilities related role; or any combination of
education, training, and experience.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Valid state issued driver’s license.
