Job Description
Summary:
Operate the welding equipment, to weld and attach tanks or other parts to the core, via MIG and TIG welding based on the blueprint instructions. Or operate welding equipment to attach piece parts to tanks via MIG welding based on the blueprints provided.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Completion of a formal trade school program with a welding concentration, apprenticeship program and/or on-the-job training by Welders at AKG North American Operations, Inc.
2. Must be available and able to work the agreed upon shift and work overtime when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to read and understand detailed blueprint instructions and read a tape measure using the metric system.
2. Must have great attention to detail.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Essential Functions:
1. Read and understand detailed work order instructions and blueprints.
2. If combination welding (MIG&TIG), manually or with assistance of a chain hoist, move the core and tanks from outside the welding booth onto the turntable or manipulator. Operate welding equipment by a hand trigger, or foot pedal to regulate current/voltage and perform ordinary welding operations. Weld additional pieces onto the core if needed in the blueprint instructions. Once complete stamp work with personal stamp and move manually or with assistance of a chain hoist to a pallet outside the welding booth.
3. If MIG welding only, move tanks into the welding booth and operate welding equipment by a hand trigger and foot pedal to regulate current/voltage and perform ordinary welding operations according to the blueprints provided. Once complete stamp work with personal stamp and move manually to either outside the booth or another cart.
4. Meet the production quotas and standard times that were received from the Lead or Supervisor.
5. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
6. Report any issues to the Supervisor, or appropriate personnel, as soon as detected.
7. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and/or requirements set forth in AKG’s environmental management system (EMS).
8. Regular physical attendance is a requirement for this position. Refer to AKG attendance policy in the Information Handbook for Employees.
Physical Demands:
1. Must be able to stand (95%) and walk (5%) of the time. Or must be able to sit (95%) and walk (5%) of the time. May also be required to bend, stoop, pull, push, twist and turn.
2. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs (100%) of the time.
3. Must be able to use a pallet jack, chain hoist and welding equipment.
4. Must use safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, welding jacket, welding helmet and gloves. All of these are provided by AKG, except for the steel toe shoes.
