PRG is looking for a Project Manager to manage our route-based fiber construction / maintenance program, whereby Construction Coordinators are driving assigned routes, monitoring existing fiber infrastructure, and keeping small issues from becoming big ones. You'll own the schedule, the budget, and play a critical role in managing the client relationship, and you'll be the point of escalation when something in the field needs a decision. This is an office-based role, you'll work from a PRG office location, not from the road.
What You'll Own- Own end-to-end delivery of the route-based construction/maintenance program, serving as the primary point of accountability for schedule, budget, quality, and scope.
- Serve as the escalation point for issues Construction Coordinators surface in the field — infrastructure changes, potential failure points, or conditions that call for a decision beyond first-level field support.
- Partner closely with the route-based Construction Coordinator team to keep coverage, priorities, and workload balanced across the program — this role owns the program's outcomes, not the Coordinators' direct day-to-day supervision.
- Build and maintain project schedules, staffing plans, and budgets; track progress against milestones and proactively flag risks to timeline or cost.
- Review completed work against the scope of work (SOW) to confirm quality, accuracy, and adherence to both client and PRG standards.
- Act as the primary client-facing contact for the program, providing status updates, managing expectations, and resolving issues before they escalate.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and internal PRG teams (engineering, operations, HR) to keep the program properly staffed and resourced.
- Analyze field data, 811 locate ticket activity, and route reports to spot trends, recurring risk areas, or opportunities to improve how the route network is run.
- Prepare and present regular status reports and program metrics to PRG leadership and client stakeholders.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of Construction Coordinators as the program grows.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- Prior experience managing project schedules, budgets, and field-based teams in fiber/telecom outside plant construction, utility construction, or a related field-services industry.
- Experience working alongside or coordinating route-based, outside-plant, or field-locate personnel is a strong plus.
- Solid understanding of fiber engineering fundamentals, outside plant construction practices, and underground utility/dig-law basics (the 811 process, locate tickets, maps and prints) — enough to speak credibly with both the field team and the client.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and staffing plans and to report accurately on project financials and status.
- Strong client-facing communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to adjust your delivery to your audience.
- Sharp organizational skills and the ability to prioritize across a multi-route program with competing demands.
- Strong technology skills (e.g., Microsoft Office (Excel and Project in particular)) for scheduling, reporting, and budgeting.
- PMP certification is a plus, not required.
- Able to work in person from a PRG office location on a regular basis — this is an office-based role, not a remote or field position.
- Pay: Commensurate with experience, $85,000–$110,000/year base, plus the opportunity to earn an annual bonus.
- Medical, dental, and vision plans offered for you and your dependents, effective the first of the month following your start date.
- Company-paid short-term disability benefits after 1 year of service.
- 401(k) plan effective the first of the month following your start date, with a safe-harbor match after 1 year of service.
- Supplemental life insurance is available for you and your dependents.
- Paid time off and holiday pay.
- Monthly phone allowance.
