At Northwest Hardwoods (NWH), you’ll play a critical role in keeping our sawmill and manufacturing operations running safely, reliably, and efficiently. As an experienced Millwright I, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment to troubleshooting mechanical issues and minimizing downtime, our mechanics help keep every part of the operation moving. Requirements:What You’ll Do:
- Maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical and plumbing breakdowns
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance on hydraulic systems, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems. This includes, but is not limited to: pumps, chains, rollers, bearings, gearboxes, compressors and other heavy equipment components
- Use welding and cutting torches to repair broken parts and/or fabricate new structural equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Read and understand schematics, technical blueprints and equipment manuals to properly complete repairs and locate mechanical defects
- Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Work safely while following all company safety procedures
- Assist with fabrication and other mechanical projects as needed
- Operate equipment as needed
- Perform duties in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Assist other team members as needed
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring:
We’re looking for someone who is experienced, dependable, safety-minded, and enjoys working with their hands. You should take pride in your work, be comfortable troubleshooting and fixing equipment, and enjoy keeping things running smoothly.
Required:
- Self-motivated, look for repair needs before breakdowns occur
- Work unsupervised to safely complete a task or resolve any issues which may arise
- Collaborate with maintenance team and Supervisor to improve overall Performance of location
Preferred:
- Previous experience in lumber manufacturing/lumber yard is a plus, but not required
