• Review and underwrite Non-QM loan applications in accordance with SKY TPO’s underwriting guidelines and investor requirements
• Analyze borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and overall financial profile
• Evaluate Non-QM income documentation, including bank statements, business income, asset depletion, and other alternative documentation
• Review appraisals, title, insurance, credit reports, and other supporting documentation to assess overall loan risk
• Make sound and consistent underwriting decisions while balancing credit risk and business objectives
• Issue clear and accurate underwriting decisions, conditions, approvals, and denials in accordance with established guidelines
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly to Account Managers, brokers, processors, and other internal teams
• Review submitted documentation and conditions promptly to maintain established underwriting turn-time expectations
• Analyze complex loan scenarios and provide guidance on structuring loans within SKY TPO’s Non-QM guidelines
• Collaborate with Account Managers, Operations, Closing, Credit, and other internal teams to resolve loan-level issues and keep transactions moving efficiently
• Identify potential credit, compliance, documentation, or eligibility issues and escalate when appropriate
• Maintain a strong understanding of SKY TPO’s Non-QM products, underwriting guidelines, overlays, and competitive positioning
• Stay current on changes to Non-QM guidelines, investor requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry practices
• Maintain accurate underwriting notes and documentation within the loan file
• Ensure all underwriting activities meet company, investor, and regulatory compliance standards
• Represent SKY TPO with professionalism, sound judgment, responsiveness, and strong Non-QM product knowledge

• 3–5 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter, preferably within the wholesale mortgage industry
• Strong Non-QM underwriting experience required or strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of Non-QM loan products, underwriting guidelines, credit risk, income analysis, and loan documentation
• Experience underwriting bank statement, DSCR, asset depletion, investor, and other alternative documentation loan programs preferred
• Strong knowledge of credit reports, income documentation, assets, liabilities, appraisals, title, and other mortgage underwriting requirements
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and inconsistencies within complex loan files
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume pipeline while meeting established underwriting turn-time expectations
• Proficiency with mortgage lending systems, LOS platforms, and other business technology
• Ability to work effectively with Account Managers, Brokers, Operations, Closing, Credit, and other internal teams
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
