Job Description

United Rotary Brush Corporation is Barrie, Ontario based manufacturer of specialty industrial brushes for the airport, road constructions, street sweeping and plow industries. Our Barrie manufacturing facility is looking for several seasonal Machine Operators.

About the Role:

The Machine Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by efficiently operating and maintaining winding machines and other production machinery to ensure high-quality output. This position requires a keen attention to detail to monitor machine performance, identify any malfunctions, and perform necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operation. The operator is responsible for adhering to safety protocols and quality standards to minimize downtime and defects, contributing directly to the overall productivity and success of the manufacturing facility. Collaboration with maintenance teams and production supervisors is essential to coordinate machine upkeep and meet production targets. Ultimately, the Machine Operator ensures that manufacturing processes run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, supporting the company’s commitment to delivering superior products to customers.

Machine Operator Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience operating press machines and production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of machine maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as work orders and machine manuals.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle manual tasks associated with machine operation.

Machine Operator Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or formal training in machine operation or manufacturing technology.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior experience working in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

Machine Operator Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor winding machines and other production machinery according to specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and minor adjustments to ensure machines function properly.
  • Conduct finishing operations to remove excess material and ensure product quality meets established standards.
  • Identify and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions promptly to maintenance personnel to minimize production delays.
  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate effectively with team members to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Machine Operator Skills:

The required skills in operating winding machines and production machinery are essential for setting up and running equipment efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
