About Us

We are a behavioral health organization serving diverse communities through mental health and related healthcare services. With approximately 100-150 employees across multiple programs and locations, our organization requires an experienced Human Resources Manager who can support employees while maintaining organized, compliant, and consistent HR operations.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee day-to-day human resources operations for approximately 150 employees.

This role requires someone who can take ownership of HR processes from beginning to end. The Human Resources Manager will oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, leave administration, compliance, and separation processes.

The position requires knowledge of California employment practices and the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain documentation, meet deadlines, and communicate with employees and leadership.

Experience within behavioral health, mental health, healthcare, nonprofit services, or another regulated environment is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage HR operations for approximately 150 employees.

  • Oversee recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.

  • Maintain personnel files, employment documentation, certifications, licenses, and required employee records.

  • Track employee credentials and expiration dates and follow up before required documents expire.

  • Coordinate employee benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.

  • Manage employee leave processes and required documentation.

  • Support supervisors with employee relations, performance concerns, corrective action, and disciplinary documentation.

  • Coordinate performance evaluations and employee performance improvement processes.

  • Ensure HR deadlines, employee requests, and compliance requirements receive timely follow-up.

  • Maintain HR tracking systems and provide reports to leadership.

  • Assist with workers' compensation and workplace injury processes.

  • Coordinate unemployment claims and employment verification requests.

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.

  • Review HR processes and recommend improvements when gaps or inefficiencies arise.

  • Support leadership with staffing, retention, employee relations, and workforce planning.

  • Ensure consistent application of organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive human resources experience.

  • Prior experience supporting a workforce of approximately 100 or more employees preferred.

  • Working knowledge of California employment practices and HR compliance requirements.

  • Experience managing employee relations and performance issues.

  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, and employee documentation.

  • Ability to independently organize HR responsibilities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate with employees, supervisors, and executive leadership.

  • Experience working with confidential employee information.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.

  • Human resources experience within behavioral health, mental health, healthcare, social services, or nonprofit organizations.

  • Experience supporting clinical employees, including licensed and associate-level providers.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
