Job Description
Position Purpose
Performs Clinical duties as they pertain to outpatient clinical care. Assists provider (Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) with medical procedures and tests in conjunction with patient visits. Position will participate in QI activities as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attendance during normal work hours is an essential function of the job to ensure work goals are met and customers are served.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Triage patient
- Escorts patients to the exam room, and prepare the patient for exam
- Obtains patient history and chief complaint
- Obtain lab specimens, give injections, and perform routine medical tests
- Provide patient education
- Call in prescription per PA/FNP/MD orders
- Performs light housekeeping chores
- Maintains adequate inventory of medication supplies
- Place pharmacy orders
- Assist in assuring goals and objectives are met
- Receives telephone calls, answering inquiries, and/or refers questions to appropriate staff members
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program. MUST HOLD A CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA) CERTIFICATION.
Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
Certification is required to demonstrate competency in the performance of duties specific to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Must be knowledgeable of HIV, and Sexual Transmitted Diseases.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Maintain Confidentiality; Good computer skills; Multi-tasking; Well organized with good oral and written communications skills.
Working Environment
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, as in a typical office.
