Job Description

Staff Product Engineer, Enterprise AI

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Engineer, Enterprise AI based in Canada.

This is a high-impact product engineering role focused on building an open-source, enterprise-ready AI platform.
You’ll work across the full stack to turn ambiguous product ideas, user needs, and enterprise requirements into shipped capabilities.
The role spans AI-powered chat, search, research, workflow automation, administration, integrations, and enterprise workflows.
You’ll own features from concept and technical planning through launch, adoption, measurement, and iteration.
You’ll collaborate with product, design, engineering, enterprise-facing teams, and open-source contributors in a globally distributed environment.
The position offers significant autonomy and requires strong judgment across usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and speed.
You’ll also help establish reusable engineering patterns and feedback loops that enable the product to scale effectively.

Accountabilities:
  • Own complex product features end-to-end, from concept and technical planning through implementation, launch, adoption, and post-launch iteration.
  • Translate product direction, user needs, partner feedback, and enterprise requirements into practical technical plans and complete product experiences.
  • Work across front-end, back-end, APIs, services, integrations, data flows, and infrastructure-adjacent areas to build, test, and ship high-quality functionality.
  • Develop AI-powered capabilities spanning chat, search, research, workflow automation, administration, integrations, and enterprise use cases.
  • Partner closely with product, design, engineering, enterprise-facing teams, senior technical leadership, and open-source contributors to clarify requirements and deliver outcomes.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate implementation while maintaining high standards for security, quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Make pragmatic product and technical tradeoffs in ambiguous environments, balancing delivery speed with usability, scalability, reliability, and enterprise requirements.
  • Evaluate usage, qualitative feedback, support signals, quality issues, and adoption patterns after launch to guide improvements.
  • Instrument features or collaborate on measurement approaches that provide insight into adoption, reliability, and product value.
  • Identify product gaps, edge cases, technical risks, and opportunities to improve user experiences.
  • Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute reusable product and engineering patterns that make future development more efficient.
  • Help strengthen an engineering culture centered on ownership, experimentation, quality, user value, and practical execution.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial Staff-level ownership, leadership, and impact in production environments.
  • Strong full-stack engineering capabilities, with experience across user interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, data flows, and infrastructure-adjacent systems.
  • Proven ability to own complex product features through technical planning, implementation, launch, evaluation, and iteration.
  • Experience building AI-enabled products or features, with practical knowledge of LLMs, RAG, agents, model/provider abstraction, data connectors, retrieval systems, or AI application architecture.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and using multiple AI tools, models, frameworks, or development harnesses, with the judgment to assess their strengths, limitations, and tradeoffs.
  • Experience with open-source enterprise products, developer tools, infrastructure or platform products, or other technically complex enterprise software.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to translate customer needs, user feedback, partner input, product signals, and strategic direction into executable technical plans.
  • Comfort operating independently in fast-changing and ambiguous product environments where requirements and architecture are still evolving.
  • Strong understanding of software quality, testing, maintainability, security, performance, reliability, and engineering tradeoffs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical, product, design, open-source, and customer- or partner-facing stakeholders.
  • Understanding of enterprise software considerations including privacy, security, administration, access control, compliance, deployment flexibility, supportability, and responsible AI.
  • Bonus experience includes self-hosted, hybrid, customer-controlled, or regulated deployments; AI and enterprise compliance frameworks such as the EU AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2; enterprise or public-sector customers; systems integrators; reusable component libraries or engineering frameworks; and instrumentation, observability, experimentation, or product analytics.
Benefits:
  • Base salary of CAD $155,000–$185,000, benchmarked to local markets.
  • Fully remote work with schedule flexibility.
  • Company-provided laptop.
  • Annual bonus program.
  • Monthly remote work stipend.
  • Annual professional development stipend.
  • Access to Coursera and industry conferences.
  • Company all-hands and team gatherings.
  • 24 days of PTO per year, prorated.
  • Birthday leave, year-end company shutdown, 9 wellbeing days, public holidays, and other paid leave.
  • Quarterly wellbeing stipend for personal or family activities.
  • RRSP contributions.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Disability and life insurance.

  • Paid parental leave and paid sick days.
  • Candidates must reside in Canada and have permanent work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.
