Screening Associate

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Screening Associate based in India.

This is a fully remote opportunity supporting U.S.-based employment and education background screening operations.
You will be responsible for verifying candidate information directly with employers, HR representatives, universities, and educational institutions.
The role combines research, professional communication, accurate documentation, and careful adherence to compliance requirements.
You will play an important role in ensuring screening results are complete, accurate, timely, and handled securely.
Success requires strong attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to consistently meet quality, productivity, and turnaround-time targets.
You will work within a structured, fast-paced environment with regular interaction across U.S.-focused verification processes.
The position also provides opportunities to build specialized experience in background screening and develop your career within the field.

Accountabilities
  • Conduct employment verifications by contacting HR teams, employers, and authorized representatives through phone and email.
  • Perform education verifications with universities, educational institutions, and relevant third-party databases.
  • Validate key candidate information, including job titles, employment tenure, rehire eligibility, educational qualifications, and other required details.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and traceable documentation of verification results and audit records.
  • Follow established U.S. verification procedures, communication scripts, compliance requirements, and escalation frameworks.
  • Manage both inbound and outbound communications professionally when interacting with U.S.-based organizations and institutions.
  • Identify discrepancies, incomplete information, or unusual cases and escalate them to senior team members as appropriate.
  • Consistently meet defined turnaround-time (TAT), productivity, accuracy, and quality targets.
  • Protect confidential candidate information and follow all applicable data-security and privacy procedures.
  • Maintain complete employment and education documentation and ensure identified gaps are appropriately documented and justified.
  • Contribute to reliable and consistent delivery of screening services by following established processes and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum qualification of HSC or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in a U.S.-focused BPO/KPO background screening process is mandatory.
  • Hands-on experience in employment and/or education verification is required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. verification procedures and compliance standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence communicating with U.S.-based HR representatives and educational institutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and information-verification abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience using background screening tools, applicant tracking systems (ATS), or similar platforms is an advantage.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive personal information.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, and ability to work proactively with limited supervision.
  • Team-oriented approach and adaptability within a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • No employment gaps exceeding 3 months.
  • Willingness and availability to work Monday to Friday on U.S. night-shift timings.
  • Ability to provide complete employment and education history documentation, including appropriate explanations for any gaps.
