Position Overview:
A staff Pharmacist must be familiar with professional and commercial aspects of the Pharmacy Department. Must have thorough knowledge of methods and procedures for procurement of supplies; must know items unique to the hospital; must have knowledge of accounting principles, understanding hospital organization and the relationship to other departments. Maintains a knowledge of all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the provision of pharmacy services. The Pharmacist dispenses medicines and preparations in the hospital according to the orders given by physicians and others authorized by law and hospital rules, regulations and by laws to prescribe; fills prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients according to hospital policy; furnishes information concerning medicines to physicians and nurses and others. Follows Pharmacy policy and procedure in accordance with the hospital policies. Processes information on the hospital's Health Information System (HIS) computer as required in performing job responsibilities.

Position Highlights:

  • Starting Rate: $53.72 + per hour (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S. in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy in the U.S. Must have a current N.C. Pharmacist License issued by the N.C. Board of Pharmacy. A staff Pharmacist should have one year of experience as a Licensed Pharmacist (preferably hospital based), but exceptional educational scores will be accepted in lieu of one year's experience. Previous experience with Meditech and Omnicell desired. Must meet continuing education requirements of the NC Board of Pharmacy and JCAHO.
