Associate Director, Customer Energy Solutions

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Associate Director, Customer Energy Solutions based in United States.

Accountabilities

As an Associate Director, Customer Energy Solutions, you will lead research, evaluation, and advisory projects while managing client relationships and project delivery. You will be responsible for developing high-quality solutions, guiding teams, and translating complex data into practical recommendations.

  • Manage client relationships by identifying business needs, risks, opportunities, and developing tailored research and evaluation strategies.
  • Lead the execution of research, evaluation, and advisory engagements while ensuring client satisfaction and successful outcomes.
  • Design innovative research methodologies aligned with industry best practices and emerging approaches.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring successful delivery against project objectives, timelines, budgets, and contractual requirements.
  • Communicate complex research methodologies, analytical findings, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Establish and support quality assurance processes, including reviewing analyses, reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Design and oversee qualitative research initiatives, including interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis, and synthesis of findings.
  • Design and manage quantitative research efforts, including survey development, statistical analysis, data collection, and interpretation.
  • Develop client-facing reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Mentor and coach junior consulting team members, supporting professional growth and knowledge development.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, thought leadership activities, and industry presentations when applicable.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong research, consulting, and project leadership experience, with the ability to manage complex studies and communicate insights effectively. You should have experience working with data-driven approaches and supporting organizations through strategic decision-making.

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years designing and delivering energy research and evaluation projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience designing and conducting qualitative research, including interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong quantitative research capabilities, including survey design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Proven ability to lead research and evaluation projects from initial design through final delivery.
  • Experience managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, quality assurance processes, and client expectations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to transform complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with utilities, energy organizations, consulting firms, research environments, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with impact evaluations, process evaluations, market assessments, energy programs, or regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and mentor consulting professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, adapt to ambiguity, and approach challenges with curiosity and strategic thinking.
  • Additional value comes from experience with industry presentations, thought leadership, energy policy, regulatory frameworks, or proposal development.
