Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Floor Care & Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is primarily dedicated to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and appearance across all hospital and clinic floors through specialized floor care routines (scrubbing, waxing, and operating equipment like the iMop). Additionally, this role provides assistance with facility maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the overall upkeep of the facility, grounds, and equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Floor Care & Sanitation (Primary Focus)
  • Routine Floor Maintenance: Execute scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual routine floor cleaning across all areas of the hospital and clinic to ensure full facility coverage.
  • Specialized Equipment Operation: Safely and effectively operate floor care equipment, including the iMop, auto-scrubbers, buffers, and floor waxers.
  • Refinishing & Deep Cleaning: Perform heavy floor care tasks, including stripping, scrubbing, sealing, waxing, and polishing hospital flooring.
  • Infection Control & Safety: Follow hospital infection control, safety, and departmental sanitation protocols while working with floor cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Maintenance Support
  • Preventative & Daily Maintenance: Follow daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly preventative maintenance schedules as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Facility & Grounds Upkeep: Assist with general maintenance and minor building/equipment repairs (including minor plumbing and electrical support).
  • Groundskeeping (Seasonal): Assist with seasonal yard care, weeding, watering, and grooming facility flower beds as needed.
  • Emergency & Safety Compliance: Maintain familiarity with hospital accident, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
Professional Standards
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or safety hazards to the supervisor/administrator immediately.
  • Maintain cooperative, respectful relationships with hospital and clinic staff, patients, and visitors while adhering to Patient Rights guidelines.
  • Comply with state/federal regulations, facility policies, HIPAA privacy standards, dress codes, and the tobacco-free campus policy.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in specialized floor care (stripping, waxing, operating floor scrubbers/iMops) preferred.
    • Experience in general janitorial services or basic facility maintenance (electrical, plumbing, mechanical).
    • Preference given to candidates with previous healthcare or large institutional facility experience.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work independently with efficient time management.
    • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills.
    • Ability to work cooperatively across departments.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
    • Ability to move and lift equipment/objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to safely handle floor care chemicals and operate motorized/mechanical equipment.
