This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to help ensure the reliability and quality of SaaS products serving the highly regulated life sciences industry. You will join a Quality Assurance and Release Engineering team focused on delivering dependable software through every release. The position combines functional testing, test automation, API validation, and deep product expertise to identify risks and improve overall quality. You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, automation specialists, and QA professionals within agile, collaborative teams. Your expertise will also contribute to stronger testing practices by mentoring junior quality engineers and expanding regression coverage. - Work within agile, small-team environments to balance rapid delivery with high standards of software quality.
- Create comprehensive testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, bug reports, and quality or risk assessments.
- Design and execute functional, regression, sanity, boundary, negative, compatibility, and concurrency testing as appropriate.
- Conduct QA testing and validate expected outcomes within established schedules and release timelines.
- Collaborate with automation specialists to identify features suitable for automation and improve regression test coverage.
- Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other QA professionals throughout the development and release lifecycle.
- Develop deep expertise in assigned products and use that knowledge to identify defects, risks, and opportunities for quality improvements.
- Perform API testing and validation using appropriate testing tools and techniques.
- Analyze application logs and system behavior using Unix/Linux command-line tools to investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Mentor junior Software Quality Assurance professionals by sharing QA methodologies, testing techniques, and practical best practices.
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in software development, software quality assurance, and/or test automation.
- Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and testing approaches, including black-box and automated testing in environments with frequent releases.
- Demonstrated experience creating and automating test cases covering both standard and advanced testing scenarios.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database queries for validating application behavior and test results.
- Strong expertise with Unix/Linux command-line environments, particularly for log analysis and troubleshooting.
- Strong experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Experience coding in Java and/or mobile development languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with functional test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Selenium, or TestNG is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or other Atlassian tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of modern software development and QA best practices.
- Experience working in a SaaS environment using agile development methodologies is highly desirable.
- Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams is beneficial.
- Background in healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices is a plus.
- Mobile testing and automation experience with tools such as Appium, XCUI, Espresso, or KIF is desirable.
- Experience with Android or iOS application development is an additional advantage.
- Base salary range of $80,000–$150,000 USD, with actual compensation determined by experience, location, qualifications, and expected contributions.
