Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer - Clearance Required based in United States.
This senior engineering role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership across a modern full-stack platform.
You will guide engineers, shape architecture, and help deliver secure, scalable applications for mission-critical government users.
The role spans responsive frontend experiences, backend services, API architecture, data models, testing, and deployment automation.
You will work closely with product, design, DevSecOps, and field teams to rapidly turn requirements into production-ready capabilities.
As part of an AI-enabled development environment, you will establish guardrails and validation practices that keep AI-assisted engineering reliable and secure.
The position offers the opportunity to influence technical direction while remaining deeply involved in coding, system design, and problem-solving.
An active Secret clearance is required, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer motivated by high-impact government missions.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers by guiding technical decisions, conducting code reviews, establishing engineering standards, and maintaining strong documentation practices.
- Own full-stack systems design decisions spanning API architecture, relational data models, frontend component structures, and interactions between client and server systems.
- Lead an AI-enabled development team, establishing guardrails, validation layers, automated testing, and supporting systems that ensure AI-assisted output is safe, reliable, and production-ready.
- Translate product and design requirements into clear, well-scoped engineering tasks and distribute work effectively across the team.
- Build intuitive, responsive frontend experiences using React, TypeScript, modern component libraries, reusable UI patterns, and responsive design principles.
- Develop secure and maintainable backend services using Express.js, REST APIs, Prisma ORM, and modular service architectures.
- Collaborate with product, design, DevSecOps, and field teams to deliver new capabilities quickly while maintaining strong security and quality standards.
- Drive rapid prototyping and iterative development while ensuring production-grade engineering practices across the team.
- Champion automated testing and quality gates through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing across the application stack.
- Troubleshoot complex defects, resolve performance bottlenecks, and optimize applications for secure IL6 deployment requirements.
- Help shape development processes and technical best practices within an Agile or Lean environment focused on rapid delivery and direct user feedback.
- 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading or mentoring software engineers.
- Proven ownership of full-stack software development spanning infrastructure, backend services, APIs, data systems, and user-facing experiences.
- Experience leading AI-enabled engineering teams, including implementing guardrails, validation mechanisms, end-to-end testing, and supporting systems for reliable AI-assisted development.
- Strong full-stack proficiency with the ability to make architectural decisions across frontend and backend systems.
- Advanced frontend experience with React, including component design, hooks, modern frontend patterns, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
- Strong backend development experience with Express.js, Prisma ORM, relational databases, SQL, indexing, and query optimization.
- Deep understanding of systems design and frontend/backend integration, including state management, REST APIs, asynchronous data fetching, and event-driven or asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress, with a track record of incorporating validation and end-to-end testing into software delivery.
- Ability to translate product and design requirements into actionable, appropriately scoped engineering work.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab.
- Comfortable leading engineering teams in Agile or Lean environments with rapid development cycles and direct user feedback.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; an active Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred.
- Experience with secure government environments such as Department of Defense, IL5+, or FedRAMP environments is a plus.
- Experience developing geospatial applications is advantageous.
- Security+ or AWS Developer/Architect certifications are beneficial.
- Startup or rapid-growth engineering experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
- Salary: Target compensation range of $134,367.66 – $232,404.55, with individual compensation determined by factors including location, internal equity, business considerations, client requirements, education, experience, skills, and security clearance.
