Norton Healthcare invites undergraduate and graduate college students currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program at the time of applying and during the summer of 2027 to apply for the Summer College Internship program.
In this immersive 12-week, full-time, paid internship, interns will receive hands-on experience and learn about the health care industry. The program offers project experiences across the health care system, professional development, professional mentorship, and executive exposure. Interns will have an opportunity to look at many facets of our health care system as it relates to continuously striving to improve our quality of care for our patients, community, and employees.
College students in non-clinical and clinical disciplines such as nursing, laboratory, respiratory care, or pharmacy who are interested in pursuing leadership pathways within healthcare, will find this program especially valuable.
The internship program consists of four key areas:
- Project work: Work on projects that directly support Norton Healthcare initiatives applying the Lean/Six-Sigma DMAIC principles. Interns will present their project results to our Senior Leadership team at the end of the summer.
- Professional development: Participate in educational panels led by experts in their fields, with presentations and personal growth exercises included.
- Professional mentorship: Interns will be assigned a leader who will be their mentor for the summer. Interns will work directly with their mentors to collaborate on project work while receiving professional guidance, job shadowing, and growth opportunities.
- Executive and leadership exposure: Meet with senior leaders, tour Norton Healthcare facilities and create connections through networking.
The interns will perform daily tasks and projects that include the design, execution and evaluation of projects. This includes literature reviews, surveys, focus groups, data integration and analysis. They will also assist staff with the design and maintenance of online surveys and relational databases, data collection and management, report creation, field work and administrative tasks as assigned.
