Kurtz Bros., In. is an industry leader in organic recycling and a manufacturer of quality landscape products. We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our Independence, Ohio location. If you enjoy working on a variety of equipment and take pride in keeping machines running safely and efficiently, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, semi-trucks, dump trucks, loaders, screeners, and other production equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, inspections, and routine service.
Complete mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, and engine repairs.
Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed to repair equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend preventative repairs to minimize downtime.
Travel occasionally to other Kurtz Bros. locations throughout the Cleveland area for equipment repairs.
Follow all company safety policies and maintain accurate repair documentation.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, trucks, or similar machinery.
Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
CDL Class A or B is a plus.
Ability to work overtime and flexible hours during the busy spring and summer season.
Must provide your own mechanic tools.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safe work practices.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions around heavy equipment.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.

Pre-employment background check and DOT drug screen are required.
