Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $45,000–$55,000 per year, based on experience
Position SummarySentry Foods is seeking a motivated, hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help lead the daily operations of our neighborhood grocery store. This leadership position works directly with the Store Owner to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient operations, strong financial performance, and a positive work environment.
We're looking for someone who leads by example, enjoys developing employees, and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, customer-focused, and passionate about grocery retail.
This position is intended to grow into increased leadership responsibilities for the right candidate.
Essential Responsibilities- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store.
- Lead, coach, and develop department managers and store associates.
- Foster a culture of outstanding customer service and accountability.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and retain quality team members.
- Create employee schedules and manage labor effectively.
- Monitor sales, gross profit, labor, and operating expenses.
- Ensure merchandising, pricing, signage, and promotional displays are executed correctly.
- Maintain inventory levels and minimize shrink through proper inventory controls.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and company policies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.
- Open and close the store as needed.
- Step into department operations when necessary to support the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Owner.
- Minimum of 3 years of grocery or retail management experience.
- Previous experience supervising employees and leading teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyze reports and make sound business decisions.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Proficient with basic computer systems and Microsoft Office.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Previous supermarket management experience.
- Experience managing multiple retail departments.
- Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and shrink control.
- Experience with hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Food Safety Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- $45,000–$55,000 annual salary, based on experience.
