About the position, as a Recreational Coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring a positive relationship between the site and the community at large. You will arrange and coordinate education and outreach activities for the residents. Additionally, you will manage all aspects of the volunteer program, including fundraising initiatives and labor utilization. Your responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating social and recreational programs within the retirement community, and reaching out to local community members to recruit pay-for-service participants. Moreover, you manage confidential clerical and administrative functions, take charge of marketing and execution



Compensation:

Starting Pay: $23.71/hr

Post Probation Period: $24.60/hr

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Complete a Resident Social History for each resident at Chateau Three Hills, then plan, promote, deliver, and evaluate social, recreational, and therapeutic programs for individuals and groups.
  2. Create and share resident communications (newsletters, posters, calendars, notices, activity schedules) to promote programs and special events.
  3. Work closely with department heads to encourage teamwork, support key initiatives, and help keep priorities moving forward
  4. Design inclusive, resident-centered programs that support connection and engagement across diverse interests and lifestyles.
  5. Lead and encourage participation in a variety of activities and outings (fitness, walking club, arts and crafts, gardening, games, and special events).
  6. Prepare activity spaces and ensure supplies and equipment are organized, safe, and ready for use.
  7. Coordinate the volunteer program (recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing evaluation) to support programming and fundraising.
  8. Provide direction to staff and volunteers supporting recreation services; coordinate on-site special events.
  9. Track program effectiveness, recommend improvements, and stay current on best practices in senior wellness and social programming.
  10. Build community partnerships to bring in entertainment and resources, and coordinate community engagement opportunities (shopping, entertainment, day trips).
  11. Support community-facing programs as assigned, including drop-in programming and Meals on Wheels outreach.
  12. Maintain inventory, report equipment issues to the Community Manager, and keep recreation areas and storage spaces clean and organized.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Do you possess these special skills?

  1. Strong administrative skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  2. Comfortable using Canva to design social media postings, program calendars, posters, and other resident engagement materials.
  3. A genuine passion for working with seniors and creating meaningful, person-centered recreation experiences.

Education & Experience Required:

  1. Administrative Assistant Certification, Event Planning, and/ or Diploma in Marketing
  2. Certificate or diploma from a recognized recreation program or equivalent experience
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of basic marketing terminology is considered an asset.
  4. Highly organized with strong time management skills; able to juggle multiple priorities and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Friendly, professional, and service-oriented; able to build positive relationships with residents, families, coworkers, community partners, and the public.
  6. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and lead engaging programs that support resident wellness and quality of life.
  7. Resourceful and community-minded; able to build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and schools to support community connection.
