Description:

The Associate Director of Operations (ADO) is the liaison between client hospital(s) and Core Medical Directors and Operations teams. This position is responsible for the performance of the assigned contracts and ensuring Core’s expectations are met. Working in one or more of our service delivery models, the ADO manages contracts and financial performance, models/assures company culture and practices, oversees compliance and quality, and works to achieve joint metric goals, enhanced clinical programs and continuous improvement.

Operational Leadership & Partnership

  • Serve as a key operational partner to the Vice President of Operations (VP) and Regional Director of Operations (RDO), supporting the execution of strategic initiatives, operational priorities, and organizational objectives across assigned practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with the RDO and VP regarding site performance, operational risks, staffing challenges, client concerns, and growth opportunities.
  • Support the VP and RDO in developing and implementing operational strategies designed to improve client satisfaction, clinician engagement, quality outcomes, and financial performance.
  • Assist with business development activities including RFP responses, client presentations, service line expansions, contract renewals, implementations, and transition planning.
  • Participate in operational reviews, business reviews, and leadership meetings, providing updates and recommendations related to assigned practices.

Practice Operations & Performance

  • Partner with the VP and RDO to monitor and improve operational performance across assigned sites.
  • Provide visibility into site-level performance, operational risks, staffing concerns, and partnership health through regular reporting and communication.
  • Assist in the development and execution of action plans to address operational, quality, financial, staffing, and client concerns.
  • Ensure operational initiatives and priorities established by the VP and RDO are executed consistently across assigned practices.
  • Escalate significant operational, contractual, compliance, quality, or partnership concerns in a timely manner.

Workforce Management

  • Collaborate with the VP, RDO, Medical Directors, and recruiting teams to support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, retention, succession planning, and clinician engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor staffing trends and proactively communicate recruitment needs, retention risks, burnout concerns, and scheduling challenges.
  • Support implementation of clinician engagement strategies designed to improve retention, communication, and provider satisfaction.

Client & Partnership Management

  • Assist the VP and RDO in maintaining strong relationships with hospital executives, physician leaders, practice managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings, quarterly business reviews, operational reviews, and strategic planning discussions as requested.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships, improve service delivery, and support growth initiatives.
  • Ensure client concerns are addressed promptly and communicated appropriately through leadership channels.

Leadership & Communication

  • Serve as an extension of the VP and RDO by helping drive accountability, execution, and follow-through on operational priorities.
  • Provide timely updates regarding site performance, action plans, project status, and emerging risks.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Medical Leadership, Revenue Cycle, Credentialing, Recruiting, Provider Enrollment, Scheduling, and Hospital Leadership.
  • Assist with implementation of organizational initiatives and process improvements designed to enhance scalability, consistency, and operational excellence.

Strategic Projects & Organizational Initiatives

  • Support VP- and RDO-led strategic initiatives, integrations, acquisitions, new site implementations, service line expansions, and operational improvement projects.
  • Participate in data analysis, operational assessments, and project planning to support informed decision-making.
  • Assist in identifying best practices and standardizing workflows across the organization.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Drive change by leading and supporting continuous improvement activities
  • Stay abreast of continuous improvement methodologies and tools for healthcare systems
  • Knowledge of hospital key performance indicators for emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, and critical care service lines.
  • Ability to work comfortably in software solutions such as Microsoft and Adobe products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate objectives and present to hospital executives, physicians, and stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze information to make data driven assessments and recommendations
  • Keen emotional intelligence with ability to influence decisions
  • Strong relationship skills and ability to build and maintain trust with professionals internal and external to the company
  • Utilize independent judgment on determining areas of collaboration, escalation, and autonomy
  • Navigate competing priorities and effectively work in a fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit growth mindset and team-orientated behaviors
  • Collaborate with professionals internal and external to the company and across geographic locations

Work Location:

  • On-site in hospital administrative and patient care areas with potential exposure to communicable diseases and difficult patient care situations. Occasional travel for in-person meetings and events. The employee must have reliable access to internet.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related
  • Master’s Degree preferred (MHA, MBA, or MPH)

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in clinical management with proven competency in metric-driven operations and partnership relations
  • Proven financial acumen
  • Process improvement experience netting clear business results
  • Excellent communications and collaboration, with high emotional intelligence and professionalism
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision analysis, judgement, and independent thinking
  • Proven and practical problem-solving
  • Experience with various HCMS, scheduling, and related applications
  • Up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance environment
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams, data analytics, and visualization tools, etc.
