Staff Data Scientist - Product

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Data Scientist - Product based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of product, data, and strategy, helping shape how a fast-growing SaaS platform evolves through rigorous, data-driven decision-making. You will transform large-scale behavioral and product usage data into actionable insights that directly influence roadmap priorities and growth levers. The environment is highly collaborative, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams. You will play a key role in defining success metrics, optimizing user journeys, and identifying opportunities for product innovation. The role blends deep analytical work with strategic influence, ensuring data is embedded into every critical product decision. You will also contribute to early-stage product experimentation and 0→1 initiatives when needed. This is a high-impact position where insights translate directly into measurable business outcomes.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for driving product decisions through advanced analytics, experimentation, and scalable data systems that improve product performance and user experience across the platform.

  • Translate complex business and product questions into structured analytical frameworks, delivering insights that guide product strategy and optimization.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional teams to define key metrics, success criteria, and actionable recommendations.
  • Build, maintain, and improve scalable analytics infrastructure supporting product reporting, experimentation, and decision-making.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses across funnels, cohorts, and user behavior to uncover growth opportunities and product friction points.
  • Design and evaluate A/B tests and statistical experiments to validate hypotheses and measure product impact.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability across reporting systems and dashboards.
  • Support early-stage product development by defining metrics, instrumentation, and success measurement frameworks for new initiatives.
Requirements

You bring strong technical expertise in product analytics and a proven ability to influence product direction through data storytelling and rigorous analysis.

  • 5+ years of experience in product data science, analytics, or a similar data-focused role within a SaaS or tech environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar analytical tools.
  • Deep experience with experimentation frameworks, A/B testing, causal inference, and statistical modeling.
  • Strong background in cohort analysis, funnel optimization, time series analysis, and product performance measurement.
  • Experience working with product analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, or similar).
  • Ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong product intuition with the ability to connect analytics outputs to user experience and business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
