Job Summary
Provides Administrative Nursing Leadership to the Childrens Hospital during off shift hours to ensure safe, high quality nursing care to our patients and families,
Assists the Nursing Leadership team to address staffing needs, provide clinical support when needed, and resolve immediate concerns with patients and families,
Essential Job Functions
Meets expectations of department staff positions as required to meet customer expectations,
Functions as in house administrator during off shifts,
Seeks administrative consultation when appropriate,
Motivates staff to continually seek opportunities for lifetime learning, leading to improved patient outcomes, and evidence based high quality patient care
Supports staff and encourages in them a sense of ownership and accountability of their work processes,
Provides staff the opportunity to provide feedback regarding department and hospital operations,
Ensures the organization s mission to provide a Just Culture environment,
Creates an environment that enables the department to fulfill its mission and or exceed its goals,
Ensures that adequate staff, space, equipment, and other resources are available to provide the department services,
Ensures cost effective and appropriate utilization of resources,
Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services to meet customer expectations,
Demonstrates ability to intervene proactively, and also problem-solve effectively, in a wide range of situations and emergencies,
Consistently appraises clinical performance and learning needs through self evaluation,
Exhibits consistent professional behavior and is accountable for actions with regard to professional issues,
Formal Education and Job Related Experience
Graduate of National League of Nursing Accredited School of Nursing,
Bachelor degree in Nursing required,
Master degree in Nursing preferred,
Minimum of 2 years leadership experience is preferred,
Minimum of 5 years pediatric nursing clinical experience is required,
Evidence of interpersonal skill and ability to collaborate with others,
Evidence of leadership ability,
Previous experience as a Nurse Leader is preferred; strong clinical skills is required,
Certification
American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification required,
Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required for Inpatient care units,
If not certified at hire, expectation to receive certification within one year of hire INPATIENT ONLY,
Professional nursing certification in field of specialty such as rehab nursing, pediatric nursing, etc, is preferred,
License
Current New Jersey RN license,

The Nursing Supervisor has continuous contact with patients, families, visitors and all hospital departments and staff,

Must be able to support staff clinically if needed, and be able to frequently round on units, patients/families, and staff,
Must have the physical stamina and ability to safely lift or move objects, and patients, if necessary,
