Overview
Hartford Athletic is seeking a creative, digitally savvy social media and PR Intern looking to learn and grow within the sports and entertainment industry. The social media and PR Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to help tell the story of Hartford Athletic across social platforms, with a strong focus on real-time gameday content and TikTok strategy. Ideal candidates will have a passion for social media, storytelling, and soccer, along with the instincts to capture and post content in the moment during a live match.
Please note that this internship requires attending and working at all Hartford Athletic home matches, including weekday and weekend games at Trinity Health Stadium.
Responsibilities
- Be an integral part of the Marketing & Communications team
- Contribute creative ideas to positive impact Hartford Athletics’ social media channels, with a specific focus on TikTok strategy and content development
- Capture game day content on-site at Trinity Health Stadium, including gameplay, player moments, fan shots, and behind-the-scenes coverage
- Post real-time content across Hartford Athletics’ social media platforms throughout each home match
- Live tweet match updates, key moments, and fan engagement content during home games
- Assist with post-game recaps, including gathering content and supporting the social media and communications team in timely delivery of recap posts
- Attend all Hartford Athletic home matches as part of the content team
- Support remote social media posting and game recap assistance for select away matches
- Attend 1-2 training sessions a week to capture real-time content with players and personnel, focusing on player personality questions, social media trends, and more
- Take on other duties, special projects, and event-day tasks assigned by Marketing & Communications staff
Desired Qualifications
- Passion for social media, content creation, and storytelling
- Strong, current understanding of TikTok trends, formats, and platform strategy
- Comfortable shooting and posting content in real time in a fast-paced, live environment
- Strong writing skills for live tweeting and recap content
- Creative eye for photo and video content, including behind-the-scenes and fan moments
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment
- Comfortable interacting with players, staff, and fans
- Detail-oriented with strong time-management skills
- Knowledge of soccer and the sports industry preferred but not required
Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit, otherwise must be a volunteer
- Available throughout the fall semester
- All Hartford Athletic home match days at Trinity Health Stadium (evenings and weekends required)
- Remote availability for select away matches to support social media posting and game recap assistance
- Availability for 1-2 trainings per week for real-time content capture
- Reliable transportation to Trinity Health Stadium
