Job Description
Presbyterian Hospitality House (PHH), Alaska's leading adolescent residential treatment program, is looking for a Jr. Accounting Specialist to join our team at our Fairbanks, Alaska location.
This position is Part-Time with the option for Full-Time.
FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing accurate, timely accounting and administrative support to the
Finance Department. This position assists with payroll entries, receipts, deposits, expenses, allocations, vendor payments, credit card and fuel receipt documentation, program related claims and reviews, petty cash, rental payments, filing, and other routine finance functions. The Junior Accounting Specialist helps ensure transactions are properly coded, entered, reconciled, documented, and maintained in accordance with Presbyterian Hospitality House policies, generally accepted accounting practices, nonprofit requirements, and applicable state or program regulations.

We are seeking an emotionally healthy individual with:
- Common sense
- A good sense of humor
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll, accounts payable, or administrative finance experience preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail
- Accurate data entry skills
- The ability to maintain organized financial records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Experience with QuickBooks and routine financial documentation is preferred.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality, follow written procedures, meet recurring deadlines, communicate professionally with staff and vendors, and support compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and applicable nonprofit funding or program requirements.
