Job Title: Purchasing Agent I

Location: Rocky Mount, NC; Hybrid

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Agent will be an important contributor to the team. Maintaining vendor relationships and purchasing strategies that optimize purchasing costs and ensure that materials and supplies are available on a timely basis for field work and shop production. The position is responsible for purchasing across multiple facilities, including field operations and subcontractors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to establish procurement strategies for the acquisition of project materials and plant materials that optimize quality, cost, terms, and timely delivery
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers
  • Evaluate and maintain reports for inventory reorder
  • Assist in managing supplier contracts and administering best pricing strategies
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure documentation requirements are correct
  • Place purchase orders in response to Project Management orders, inventory stocking requirements as directed
  • Identifies actual and potential delivery problems and takes proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel
    • Order all parts and coordinate deliveries to field projects with production and field teams
    • Ensure that ERP system transactions are complete, accurate, and timely
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiving reports
    • Other duties as assigned

    Competencies:

    • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
    • Ability to develop strategy and leadership skills
    • Experience with building vendor relationships
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in purchasing
    • Good working knowledge of an ERP environment as it relates to purchasing (Syteline preferred)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to Purchasing or Business Administration
  • Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid
