This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Developer (Java/Backend) based in the United States.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced backend engineer to design and deliver scalable API-driven solutions that support advanced data discovery and analytics platforms. In this role, you will build mission-critical enterprise applications, contribute to cloud-native architectures, and solve complex technical challenges across the full software development lifecycle. You will work with modern Java technologies, databases, cloud services, and DevOps practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable solutions. - Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications and RESTful APIs throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Build and optimize API-driven solutions using Java technologies, modern frameworks, and enterprise application architectures to support large-scale data discovery and analytics platforms.
- Develop and maintain cloud-native data processing workflows and ETL solutions using AWS services to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Design, implement, and optimize database solutions across large-scale enterprise environments, including data architecture, performance tuning, storage management, and operational support.
- Manage development workflows, source control, and CI/CD processes using tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, and related engineering platforms.
- Apply Agile and SAFe methodologies to support iterative development, backlog management, sprint execution, and continuous delivery practices.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, security validation, and automated deployment activities to ensure application reliability, quality, and compliance.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, implement enhancements, and support ongoing maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, product teams, and stakeholders to define technical requirements, participate in design reviews, and deliver effective software solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, documentation, and knowledge sharing to support team development and engineering best practices.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, backend developer, or API developer.
- Strong expertise in Java development and experience building secure, scalable RESTful APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, JAX-RS, or Jersey.
- Solid understanding of API architecture, API security principles, software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and application performance optimization.
- Experience working with enterprise databases such as Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora, or similar relational database technologies.
- Familiarity with additional programming languages including Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience with modern frontend technologies or JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS is considered a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to prepare technical documentation and present architecture solutions to stakeholders.
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Aurora, Lambda, and related cloud technologies is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and automated deployment practices is preferred.
- Experience with microservices architecture, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and DevOps tools including Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain Public Trust (High) clearance.
